Astrozap Telescope Focusing Aids

Astrozap Telescope Focusing Aids

Astrozap makes three highly effective telescope focusing aids:

  • Focusing Caps,
  • Focusing Screens and
  • Artificial Star.

Unlike a simple Hartman or Bahtinov mask, Astrozap's Astrozap Focusing Caps are multi-purpose tools which allow quick 'shutter-like' operation. Just turn the wheel to the open position for focusing, and then turn it again to the closed position to keep the dust out, or to image dark frames with you CCD or DSLR camera. Sized to fit most telescopes, Astrozap Focusing Caps are proudly made in the USA out of solid sheet aluminum (unlike others' offerings made of plastic and not nearly as durable) and also powder coated to resist corrosion and retain their attractive appearance.

Astrozap's Focusing Screens have a more economical design for those who do not want or need the dust cap feature offered in Astrozap's Focusing Caps. The Focusing Screen produces the same unique Bahtinov diffraction pattern as the Focusing Cap and enables the same result: best focus every time. Sized to fit most telescopes, Astrozap Focusing Screens are proudly made in the USA out of solid sheet aluminum (unlike others' offerings made of plastic and not nearly as durable) and also powder coated to resist corrosion and retain their attractive appearance.

Astrozap's Artificial Star is designed to provide a steady, stable reference for star collimation to be used in lieu of an actual star. This device will allow collimation without the worry of star drift or seeing conditions. This very bright, small point source of light will provide a consistent brightness and produce beautiful diffraction rings when de-focused in any eyepiece.
